About the Event
Come join us in-person for our Fall CE! Presented by Gus Kaufman 4 CEs approved for Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists About this training:
Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor (PBSP) therapy, the approach taught in this workshop, recognizes that 'we see the world through the lens of our history.' In group therapy that 'old map' emerges in our perceptions of ourselves and others and our interactions with them. Tools will be shared to help clients recognize these, and create a 'new map,' new embodied possibilities, guided by the therapist(s). Seeing these dysfunctional patterns as they arise, and helping clients develop, practice and imprint new, more fulfilling patterns will be taught and demonstrated. The workshop will be didactic and experiential.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand how unmet needs and defenses show up in the body.
2. Help client tune in to these signals.
3. Learn to follow body cues into symbolic action and interaction.
4. Be able to help clients move from denial and somatization to acknowledgement of loss and trauma and then to healing and growth.
